Expulsado Dean Reed

Efectivos de la Policia de Extranjeria - cumpliendo una orden del Ministerio del Interior - procedieron a detener y expulsar del pais al cantante norteamericano Dean Reed en la tarde de ayer.

Los detectives ubicaron a Reed en casa de la actriz Maria Maluenda, y de inmediato lo trasladaron al aeropuerto Arturo Merino Benítez, donde abordó un avión con destino a Buenos Aires.

Reed había a la país el lunes. Se alojaba en casa de la actriz María Maluenda y entre sus actividades visito la Vicaria de la Solidaridad, Talleres Laborales y locales universitarios, entre ellos el ex-Pedagogico de la "U", donde ayer tarde se produjeron enfrentamientos de la policia con estudiantes.

El dia Jueves se traslado a Rancagua para presentarse en la sede del Sindicato Sewell y Minas, en un acto destinado a recolectar alimentos para los mineros despedidos tras la huelga del 17 de Junio.

En la ocasion - en que "La Segunda" estuvo presente - Reed canto ante unas 400 personas, a pesar de que las autoridades le habian prohibido actuar. Entre otras canciones interpreto el himno "Venceremos" de la ex UP.

Dean Reed deported

Effectives from immigration, obeying an order coming from the Internal affairs Ministry arrested and deported the North American singer Dean Reed yesterday afternoon.

The detectives found Reed in the house of the actress Maria Maluenda, and immediately they transported him to the Airport Arturo Merino Benitez where he boarded the plain to Buenos Aires.

Reed had arrived to our country last Monday. He was staying over Maria Maluenda's house and among his activities he visited the Vicary of the Solidarity, Workshops and different universities, among them the ex-Pedagogic causing riots in between the students and the police.

Last Thursday he went to the Union Sewell & Minas place in Rancagua to act and collect some food for the miners fired after the strike on June 17th.

In this occasion where "La Segunda" was present, Reed sang for 400 people even when he has been prohibited by the authorities to act in public. Among other songs he sang the ex UP hymn "Venceremos".

Beamte der Ausländerpolizei verhafteten gestern Abend auf Befehl des Innenministeriums den US-amerikanischen Sänger Dean Reed und wiesen ihn aus dem Land aus.

Die Polizisten fanden Reed im Haus der Schauspielerin Maria Maluenda und brachten ihn sofort zum Flughafen "Arturo Merino Benitez", wo er sich an Bord eines Flugzeugs nach Buenos Aires begab.

Reed war am Montag ins Land eingereist. Er wohnte im Haus der Schauspielerin Maria Maluenda und besuchte während seines Aufenthaltes kirchliche Einrichtungen der Solidarität, Arbeitswerkstätten und Bereiche der Universität, darunter das ehemalige Pädagogische Institut, wo es gestern Abend zu Konfrontationen zwischen der Polizei und Studenten kam.

Am Donnerstag fuhr er nach Rancagua, um am Sitz der Gewerkschaft Sewell y Minas bei einer Veranstaltung aufzutreten, die den Zweck hatte, Lebensmittel für die nach dem Streik am 17. Juni entlassenen Bergleute zu sammeln.

Bei der Veranstaltung, auf der auch "La Segunda" zugegen war, sang Reed vor etwa 400 Menschen, obwohl die Behörden ihm Auftritte verboten hatten. Neben anderen Liedern sang er auch "Venceremos", die Hymne der ehemaligen Unidad Popular.
