DEAN REED O EL DESEO DE AVENTURAS

La insaciable sed de aventuras, la emoción, el peligro, constituyen parte de lo que siempre ha ambicionado la juventud. Dean Reed, el fornido norteamericano, representa un caso típico del muchacho que no se amolda a la vida sedentaria, al quehacer diario en el seno de una familia, a la rutina del trabajo. Dean, que vio su luz primera en Denver, Colorado, desde la temprana edad se mostró amante de la naturaleza, denotando una gran afición por los caballos. La vida al aire libre, fue transformándolo en un joven de recia contextura, si bien la natación y la gimnasia lograron perfeccionar su cuerpo de forma tal, que con toda probabilidad es hoy día uno de los hombres mejor formados físicamente en el mundo.

Dean fue matriculado en la Universidad de Oklahoma, dedicando su atención a la Metereología, y desempeñando varios trabajos con objeto de poder costear sus estudios; no obstante, las diversas profesiones que ejerció no suponían una carga para él, antes bien, las realizaba con el mayor agrado por tratarse de algo que representaba sus aficiones favoritas, llegando a ser profesor de gimnasia, de natación y también cantante en algunos clubs juveniles. Al propio tiempo, su interés por la guitarra fue aumentando hasta constituir para él una auténtica pasión. Todos estos datos definen a Dean Reed, un hombre que, a fuerza de tesón y voluntad, ha escalado las más altas cumbres de la fama.

Pero sigamos paso a paso la interesante historia de su vida, pues hemos de hacer constar que, antes de sobresalir como cantante, alcanzó la gloria de tres medallas de oro en la Olimpiada de Roma, defendiendo el pabellón de Estados Unidos.

Sin embargo, no ha sido precisamente el deporte lo que ha hecho famoso a Dean. Un buen día, su espíritu aventurero le hizo abandonar la Universidad que estudiaba. Tomó su guitarra, y con su viejo "Chevrolet" se fue a Hollywood a probar fortuna. Comenzó a frecuentar los círculos musicales, hasta que consiguió grabar un disco, que si bien no tuvo mucho éxito, le proporcionó la popularidad necesaria para colocarse "en ruta". Así pudo grabar otras canciones y, al fin, una de ellas, titulada "Nuestro Amor Veraniego", le proporcionó el triunfo. Durante varios meses, se vendieron gran cantidad de discos e incluso llegó a los primeros puestos en los "hits parades".

Pero Dean es inquieto, inevitablemente inquieto; poco después, empezó a recorrer otros países americanos. México y, sobre todo, Chile, atrajeron al joven cantante norteamericano. De vuelta a Hollywood, lanzó allí las canciones que habían obtenido mayor aceptación en los países de habla española por aquellas fechas. "La novia", de Antonio Prieto, fue la que logró mayor impacto.

Pero su insaciable sed de aventuras se le impuso de nuevo, y repentinamente desapareció, sin más ni más. Cuando al cabo de mes y medio volvió a aparecer, se supo que se había enrolado en una expedición al Amazonas, permaneciendo varias semanas entre los indios de la tribu "shamatauteire", conviviendo con ellos en perfecta paz y armonía. Declaró que tales salvajes eran buenas personas y que lo único que le había molestado en su estancia allí fueron los mosquitos y el peligro de caer enfermo de malaria, que allí se da muy frecuentemente. La única razón que dio de su viaje fue ésta: "Estaba cansado de la civilización...".

Durante algún tiempo, se aquietó en México, donde contrajo matrimonio con Patricia. Se dedicó al cine, con bastante éxito; entre las películas que hizo, destacan "Guadalajara en verano", con Robert Stack (el Eliot Ness famosísimo de "Los Intocables" de la televisión), y "Mil caras tiene el amor", con la estrella Lana Turner.

Un nuevo salto de este viajero incansable, y Dean Reed apareció en España. Con su conocimiento del idioma español, su buena voz, su experiencia y la fama que ya había alcanzado al otro lado del Atlántico, no le fue difícil abrirse camino en nuestro país. Actuó en varias galas y salas de fiesta con éxito, y grabó un disco que ha aparecido en el mercado español. A Dean Reed le gusta España. Admira a sus gentes, a sus ciudades... En fin, que nuestro país le ha caído bien. Tanto que, según ha declarado, desea que su hijo nazca en España.

En la reciente gira que ha realizado por Rusia, actuando en las más importantes ciudades de aquel país - Moscú, Kiev, Leningrado - Dean ha cosechado buenos éxitos. Ha sido el primer cantante, a quien las autoridades soviéticas han autorizado para que interprete ritmos modernos. Posteriormente, marchó a Grecia e Italia, en donde está actuando ahora.

Sin embargo, pronto lo tendremos entre nosotros de nuevo. Varios contratos cinematográficos que ha firmado, le obligarán a volver a España, donde, por otra parte, está decidido a fijar su residencia. Siempre que se lo permita su tremenda sed de aventuras, tan exorbitada en la juventud de nuestros días.

The insatiable thirst for adventure, excitement, and danger, are part of what youth has always coveted. Dean Reed the burly American, represents a typical case of the boy who does not conform with a sedentary lifestyle, daily tasks within a family, or work routine. Dean, who saw his first light in Denver, Colorado, from an early age he showed love for mother nature, showing a fondness for horses. The outdoor living, was transformed into a young man of sturdy build, while the swimming and gymnastics were able to improve his body, to the point that probably is today one of the men more fit in the world.

Dean was enrolled at the University of Oklahoma, devoting his attention to meteorology, and performing several jobs, in order to fund their studies. However, the different professions, were not a burden for him, he was glad to perform them, because they represented his favorite hobbies. He become professor of gymnastics, swimming, and also a singer in some youth clubs. At the same time, the interest in his guitar grew to become his genuine passion. All these data define Dean Reed, a man who by dint of tenacity and determination has climbed the highest peaks of fame.

But let's go step by step the interesting story of his life, because we have to note that prior to excel as a singer, he reached the glory of three gold medals at the Olympics in Rome, defending the U.S. flag.

However, it has not been precisely the sport that made Dean famous. One fine day, his adventurous spirit made him leave the University. He took his guitar and his old "Chevrolet," went to Hollywood to try his luck. He began to frequent music circles, until he got to make a record. Although it was not quite successful, it provided him with the popularity necessary to be "en route." So, he was able to record other songs, and finally one entitled "Our Summer Romance," gives him the success. For several months, lots of records were sold, placing it within the top places in the "Hit Parade."

But Dean is anxious, restless and inevitably hyper; a short after, he began to explore other American countries. Mexico, and most of all Chile, attracted the young American singer. Back in Hollywood, he released the the most popular songs in the Spanish-speaking countries at that time. "The Bride" by Antonio Prieto, was the greatest impact.

But his insatiable thirst for adventure was imposed again, and suddenly he disappeared without a trace. When after a month and a half, reappeared, we learned that he had entrolled in an expedition through the Amazon, staying several weeks among the Indians of the tribe "Shamatauteire" living with them in perfect peace and harmony. I declare that these savages were good people, and the only thing that bothered him during his stay there, were the mosquitoes and the risk of getting Malaria, a common illness in the jungle. The only reason for this trip was because he was tired of civilization.

For some time, he relaxed in Mexico, where he married Patricia. He was dedicated to make movies quite successfully. Among the films he made, we have to highlight "Guadalajara in Summer" with Robert Stack (the famous Elliot Ness of the "Untouchables" from the Television series and "Love has many faces" with the big star Lana Turner.

The new leap of this tireless traveler is Spain. With his knowledge of the Spanish language, his good voice, his experience and fame that had already reached across the Atlantic, it was not difficult to open a new road in our country. He performed in several galas and successful nightclubs. Recorded an album that is already in the Spanish market. Dean Reed likes Spain. He admires its people, its cities... Anyway, he likes the country. According to what he said, he wants his child to be born in Spain.

In his most recent tour to Russia, he performed in most major cities of that country: Moscow, Kiev, Leningrad, being very successful. He was the first singer, whom the Soviet authorities have allowed to interpret modern rhythms. Later, he went to Greece and Italy, where he is performing now.

However, soon we will have him among us again. Several movie contracts that he has signed, forced him to return to Spain, where he is planning to live, whenever his tremendous thirst for adventure allows him. Restlessness typical of our youth these days.

Die unstillbare Sehnsucht nach Abenteuern, die Emotionen, die Gefahr haben junge Leute schon immer magisch angezogen. Dean Reed, der kräftige US-Amerikaner, ist ein typisches Beispiel für einen jungen Mann, der sich nicht mit einem sesshaften Leben, einem Alltag im Schoße der Familie, der täglichen Arbeitsroutine zufrieden gibt. Dean, der in Denver, Colorado, das Licht der Welt erblickte, begeisterte sich schon in jungen Jahren für die Natur und war ein leidenschaftlicher Pferdeliebhaber. Das Leben an der frischen Luft machte ihn zu einem gestählten jungen Mann, wobei das Schwimmen und Turnen seinen Körper so perfekt formten, dass er heute wahrscheinlich einer der körperlich am besten ausgebildeten Männer der Welt ist.

Dean schrieb sich an der Universität von Oklahoma ein und studierte Meteorologie. Um sein Studium zu finanzieren, nahm er verschiedene Jobs an. Diese Tätigkeiten stellten für ihn aber keine Belastung dar, sondern er übte sie vielmehr mit größter Freunde aus, denn sie gehörten zu seinen Lieblingsbeschäftigungen. So arbeitete er zum Beispiel als Sportlehrer, Schwimmlehrer und auch als Sänger in einigen Clubs. Gleichzeitig wuchs sein Interesse an der Gitarre und wurde bald zu einer echten Leidenschaft. Alle diese Fakten charakterisieren Dean Reed, einen Mann, der mit Stärke und Willen die höchste Stufe des Ruhms erklommen hat.

Aber wir wollen die interessante Geschichte seines Leben Schritt für Schritt erzählen. Denn zunächst muss festgestellt werden, dass er, bevor er sich als Sänger hervortat, bereits drei Goldmedaillen für die USA bei der Olympiade in Rom errungen hatte.

Dennoch war es nicht der Sport, der Dean berühmt gemacht hat. Eines Tages führte ihn sein Abenteuergeist weg von der Universität, an der er studierte. Er nahm seine Gitarre und fuhr mit seinem alten Chevrolet nach Hollywood, um sein Glück zu versuchen. Er bewegte sich in den Kreisen der Musik, bis er eine Schallplatte aufnehmen konnte, die zwar nicht sehr erfolgreich war, ihm aber die Möglichkeit gab, sich auf den Weg zu machen. So konnte er weitere Lieder aufnehmen, bis ihm eines davon, "Our Summer Romance," den Triumph brachte. Mehrere Monate lang wurden zahlreiche Platten mit diesem Lied verkauft und es erreichte sogar vordere Plätze in den Hitparaden.

Aber Dean ist ein unruhiger Geist. Kurz darauf machte er sich auf den Weg in andere Länder Amerikas. Mexiko und vor allem Chile zogen den jungen US-amerikanischen Sänger an. Nach seiner Rückkehr nach Hollywood brachte er dort Lieder heraus, die in den spanischsprachigen Ländern damals den größten Erfolg erzielt hatten. "La Novia" von Antonio Prieto setzte sich am besten durch.

Aber seine unstillbare Abenteuerlust ergriff wieder von ihm Besitz und er verschwand plötzlich ohne Ankündigung. Als er nach eineinhalb Monaten wieder auftauchte, erfuhr man, dass er auf einer Expedition im Amazonasgebiet gewesen war und mehrere Wochen in perfekter Harmonie und Frieden bei dem Indianerstamm der Shamatauteire gelebt hatte. Er erklärte, dass diese Eingeborenen gute Menschen sind und dass die Moskitos und die Angst vor einer dort häufig auftretenden Malariaerkrankung das Einzige waren, was ihn während seines Aufenthalts dort gestört hatte. Der einzige Grund, den er für seine Reise angab, war: "Ich war der Zivilisation müde ...".

Einige Zeit lang wurde er ruhiger, als er in Mexiko Patricia heiratete. Er drehte mit großem Erfolge Filme, unter anderem "Guadalajara en verano" mit Robert Stack (der berühmte Eliot Ness aus dem Fernsehfilm "Los Intocables") und "Love has many faces" mit dem Star Lana Turner.

Ein erneuter Sprung dieses unermüdlichen Reisenden und Dean Reed tauchte in Spanien auf. Mit seinen Spanischkenntnissen, seiner guten Stimme, seiner Erfahrung und dem Ruhm, den er auf der anderen Seite des Atlantiks schon errungen hatte, fiel es ihm nicht schwer, in unserem Land seinen Weg zu finden. Er trat erfolgreich bei mehreren Galaveranstaltungen und in Festsälen auf und nahm eine Schallplatte auf, die auf dem spanischen Markt erschien. Dean Reed mag Spanien. Er bewundert die Spanier... Unser Land gefällt ihm also. So sehr, dass er möchte, dass sein Kind in Spanien geboren wird.

Kürzlich absolvierte Dean eine sehr erfolgreiche Tournee durch Russland, bei der er in den wichtigsten Städten dieses Landes, wie Moskau, Kiew, Leningrad, auftrat. Er war der erste Sänger, dem die sowjetischen Behörden erlaubt hatten, moderne Rhythmen zu singen. Danach reiste er nach Griechenland und Italien, wo er zur Zeit auftritt.

Aber bald werden wir ihn wieder bei uns haben. Da er mehrere Filmverträge unterschrieben hat, wird er nach Spanien zurückkommen, wo er sich niederlassen will, wenn sein großer Hunger nach Abenteuern, der allgemein die heutige Jugend kennzeichnet, dies zulässt.
