American folk singer Dean Reed, under a fur hat and surrounded by a scarf, is a "freedom fighter" in the eyes of the Russians. He's in Moscow on tour and not only are his ballads a hit, his political reputation is turning on the masses. Reed, who most Americans never heard of, was arrested recently in Minnesota for protesting the construction of a power line by a utility firm, and was ultimately jailed. He then went on a hunger strike in jail.
