Un norteaméricano rebelde

Yo conozco Chile, todo su desarrollo político, desde la derecha hasta al centro con los democratacristianos, y de ahí hasta la Unidad Popular, un gobierno del pueblo (...)"

"El cantante", película realizada por Dean Reed en homenaje a su amigo VICTOR JARA. - Refleja el momento en que el "príncipe" asesino de Víctor le dice "canta ahora concha de tu madre" y Víctor se levanta con orgullo de roto chileno frente a un señorito oficial del ejercito de Chile y canta el himno "VENCEREMOS".

DEAN REED - "El cantante del amor".
Con su acción demostró que sigue vive la otra América de "Walt Whitman, Paul Robeson, Luther King".

La foto muestra el momento que Dean Reed lava en Chile la bandera norteamericana frente a la embajada de los Estados Unidos. Protesta de esa forma contra la guerra en Vietnam.

En Chile se integró al proceso de la Unidad Popular.
Se afilió a la Central Unica de Trabajadores (CUT)
Todo ajeno a algún tipo de protagonismo.
Desechó contratos y grandes posibilidades de filmación y de recitales en escenarios del mundo.

Fué expulsado de su país los Estados Unidos se estableció en la República Democrática Alemana (RDA).

Entre tantas actividades encontró tiempo para, filmar una película sobre Víctor Jara

Viajó a Chile bajo la dictadura y estuvo en Sewell en una asamblea de mineros, desde allí invocó a Allende, Jara y a nuestro Neruda nuevamente fué expulsado, ahora desde Chile No obtante siendo una estrella del Rock en los años 60, apareció solidarizando públicamente con la lucha del pueblo Palestino, del Frente Polisario, de los negros sud africanos.

Fué un cruzado por la paz.

Todas estas razones autorizaron a la cúpula del sistema norteamericano a decretar su ASESINATO.

Tenemos una deuda que saldar con Dean Reed como ciudadanos del mundo.

El entregarle el titulo de "Gringo Honrado" es "Honrar al gringo" en estos tiempos este titulo reviste un profundo significado, no nos cabe ninguna duda que Dean Reed estaría junto a nuestros pueblos en la lucha contra el Neoliberalismo y sin duda alguna contribuiría a consolidar el ALBA en Nuestra América.

A North American Rebel

"(...) I have lived in many countries(...) but Chile will always be my first love. Maybe because it is the first country where I lived beside my homeland and there the people adopted me. I know Chile; all the political development from ultra right to the middle to the Christian Democrats - and then to the Unidad Popular, a government of the people. (...)"

"EL CANTANTE" (The Singer), a film made by Dean Reed as a tribute to his friend VICTOR JARA, shows the moment when the guy who killed him, named "Prince", tells him: "sing now motherfucker", and Victor gets up and shows his pride to be a common Chilean man and in front of this snooty officer of the Chilean Army, sings the hymn "VENCEREMOS".

With his action he showed that the America of "Walt Whitman, Paul Robeson, and Luther King" is still alive.

The picture show us when Dean Reed washed the North American flag in Chile, in front of the United States Embassy protesting against the Vietnam War.

In Chile he integrated the Popular Unit's process.
He joined the Central Unica de Trabajadores (CUT)
He turned down contracts, films and concerts world wide.

He was expelled from his country United States, and he settled in the German Democratic Republic (GDR).

Among all his activities, he found time to make a movie about Victor Jara.

Traveled down to Chile under the military dictatorship. Was in Sewell, in a meeting with the miners. From there, he invoked Allende, Jara and our Neruda. Once more he was expelled from Chile. Even being a Rock Star in the 60's, he expressed his solidarity to the Palestinian's fight, the Western Sahara Liberation front (Polisario) and to the blacks in South Africa.

He was a crusader for the Peace.

For all of these reasons, the North American leaders wanted him DEAD.

As citizens of the world, we have to pay off a debt to Dean Reed.

Naming him as "Honest Gringo" means to "Honour the Gringo". These times this title has an special meaning. There is no doubt that Dean Reed would be with our people fighting against the neoliberalism and he would contribute to consolidate the DAWN in our America.

There is no doubt that the moment will come dear brother, to do justice in you name and in you enormous sense of responsibility for the dignity of the human race.

Ich kenne Chile, die ganze politische Entwicklung von ganz rechts bis mittel bis zu den Christdemokraten und dann bis zur Unidad Popular, eine Regierung des Volkes. (...)"

"El cantante" ist der Film, den Dean Reed zu Ehren seines Freundes VICTOR JARA gedreht hat. - Darin gibt es die Szene, in der Víctors Mörder zu ihm sagt: "Sing jetzt, Arschloch!" und Víctor erhebt sich mit dem Stolz eines chilenischen Arbeiters, stellt sich einem Angehörigen des chilenischen Militärs hin und singt die Hymne "VENCEREMOS".

Mit seiner Aktion hat er gezeigt, dass das "andere Amerika" von Walt Whitman, Paul Robeson und Luther King lebt.

Das Foto zeigt den Augenblick, als Dean Reed in Chile die US-amerikanische Fahne vor der Botschaft der Vereinigten Staaten wäscht. Damit protestiert er gegen den Krieg in Vietnam.

In Chile schloss er sich dem Prozess der Unidad Popular an.
Er wurde Mitglied der Zentralgewerkschaft "Central Unica de Trabajadores" (CUT).
All dies hat nichts mit Hauptrollen zu tun.
Er zerriss Verträge und vergab große Möglichkeiten zum Filmemachen sowie Auftritte auf den Bühnen der Welt.

Er wurde aus seinem Heimatland, den Vereinigten Staaten, ausgewiesen und ließ sich in der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik (DDR) nieder.

Trotz seiner vielfältigen Aktivitäten fand er Zeit, um einen Film über Víctor Jara zu drehen.

Er reiste während der Diktatur nach Chile und nahm in Sewell an einer Bergarbeiterversammlung teil, auf der er an Allende, Jara und an unseren Neruda erinnerte. Wieder wurde er ausgewiesen, diesmal aus Chile. Obwohl er in den 60er Jahren ein Rock-Star war, erklärte er sich öffentlich solidarisch mit dem Kampf des palästinensischen Volkes, der Polisario-Front und der südafrikanischen Schwarzen.

Er war ein Friedenskämpfer.

Alle diese Gründe bewogen die Spitze des USA-Systems, seine ERMORDUNG anzuordnen.

Wir haben gegenüber Dean Reed eine Schuld als Weltbürger zu begleichen.

Ihm den Titel eines "Ehrenwerten Gringos" zu verleihen, bedeutet "einen Gringo zu ehren". In dieser Zeit hat dieser Titel eine tiefe Bedeutung. Für uns besteht kein Zweifel daran, dass Dean Reed unsere Völker beim Kampf gegen den Neoliberalismus unterstützen würde und auf jeden Fall der ALBA (Alternativa Bolivariana para América Latina y El Caribe - Bolivarianische Alternative für Lateinamerika und die Karibik) in unserem Amerika zur Seite stehen würde.

Lieber Bruder, zweifellos wird der Moment kommen, in dem deinem Namen und deinem großen Verantwortungsbewusstsein gegenüber der Würde der Menschheit Gerechtigkeit widerfährt.
