that I must be from another earth,

because he was black
not be allowed to sleep,
and I've seen this man,
when he was hungry,
not be allowed to eat.
When will they learn
before they do harm
to search for the truth throughout,
and only through searching
this whole world o'er
will they find what the world is about.
I've seen a man,
because he was poor,
bow to another man,
and I've seen a man kill another
just because he was from another land.
I've seen men
who thought their god
was better than all the rest
kill a man just to save his soul -
I doubt if in peace they rest.
When will they learn
before they do harm
to search for the truth throughout,
and only through searching
this whole world o'er
will they find what the world is about.
I've seen many people with disease,
and many times death did come
just because the man was poor,
and the doctor he wouldn't come.
I hope before I leave this earth
that I'll be able to find
a land where the people love instead of hate,
a land that I can call mine.

So oft im Leben habe ich auf die Menschen geschaut und mir gesagt,
dass ich von woanders oder aus einer anderen Zeit stamme.
Ich verstand nicht das, was sie sagen und was sie tun,
und wie ein Mensch so seinen Nächsten hassen kann.
Ich sah wie sie einen nicht schlafen ließen weil er schwarz war
und ihm nichts zu essen gaben obwohl er hungrig war.
Oft möchte ich die ganze Nacht durch weinen,
aber die Menschen um mich sehen nichts Schlechtes.
Ich sah wie sich einer vor einem anderen erniedrigte weil er arm war,
und ich sah wie einer den anderen erschlug weil es ein Fremder war.
Ich sah Menschen, die ihren Gott für etwas mehr hielten als den Gott anderer Menschen
und deshalb einen Menschen erschlugen, um seine Seele zu retten.
Ich bezweifle dass sie in Ruhe leben.
Ich sah junge Männer in Uniformen, die dachten dass sie Gutes tun wenn sie Bomben zünden,
die alle Brüderlichkeit vernichten können.
Ich sah viele kranke Menschen zu denen der Tod kam,
weil sie arm waren und kein Arzt sich einfand.
Ich sah Menschen ihre Brüder erschlagen weil es ihnen ein General befahl und ihnen sagte,
dass diese Menschen nicht gut waren und diesmal Opfer wurden.
Wann endlich werden sie es lernen bevor sie etwas durchführen zu fragen warum,
und die Wahrheit in sich suchen und mitunter am Firmament.
Ich hoffe dass ich bis zum Tod einen Platz finde wo die Menschen lieben anstelle zu hassen,
und ein Land das ich für mein eigenes halten kann.
