U.S. Entertainer refused entry by governmentParis AFP in Spanish 21:35 GMT 16 Aug 69 Buenos Aires. The Argentine Government has forbidden the entry of the North American singer Dean Reed. He arrived this morning by plane at the Ezeiza airport from Italy and police, with orders from the Ministry of the Interior and the Immigration Department, led him to an office in the airport where he was informed of the government decision. Hours later the singer was put on an Alitalia plane to take him back to Rome. Police did not reveal the reasons for the decision. Dean Reed had been engaged by a television channel and would have made his debut this afternoon on a benefit show called "Sabado de la Bondad." His arrival had been widely publicized. A few years ago Reed lived in Argentina and had left early in 1966. During a past visit to Argentina the singer had been accused of sympathizing with the communist regime, but he denied this. |
