Dean Reed Peace Prize Set for World Affairs

By C. Rusnock Hoover

The World Affairs Conference will hold the Fourth Annual Dean Reed Peace Prize Essay Contest on "The United Nations and the New World Order."

The winner will be awarded the Dean Reed Peace Prize, a $500 award, during the World Affairs Conference that takes place on the CU-Boulder campus April 5-11.

All CU-Bolder undergraduates may apply. Submission deadline is 5 p.m. March 30. Register and get a copy of the rules from Professor John Murphy, Department of English, Hellems 121, Campus 226.

The prize was established by Ruth Anna Brown, mother of Dean Reed, to "promote the cause of peace and justice in the world." Reed was born in Denver and attended CU-Boulder from 1956 to 1958 before pursuing a career in international cinema and recording. He died in East Germany in 1986.
