DEAN REED - CONVERTIDO EN "DURO" DEL CINE

Dean Reed, el popular cantante norteamericano, tan querido por el público chileno, ha terminado en Barcelona el rodaje de su última película "Veinte pasos para la muerte" junto a la estrella de su misma nacionalidad Patty Shepard, casada con un actor español y radicada en España.

Esta es la película número 10 del rubio y rebelde Dean Reed, que en la actualidad, reside en Roma.

"Veinte pasos para la muerte" es un co-producció,n hispano-italiana y ha sido dirigida por Manuel Estevá. Se trata de un "western" de mucha acción, cuyo tema de fondo lo constituyen precisamente los problemas raciales, por lo cual el planteamiento de la película responde a una circunstancia de gran actualidad en USA. Dean Reed encarna el papel de un joven mestizo enamorado de una muchacha blanca, que lucha contra los prejuicios raciales y una banda de foragidos.

Otra película filmada recientemente por el actor-cantante Dean Reed y dirigida por el mismo realizador, Manuel Estevá, está a estrenarse en las pantallas italianas y españolas. Es un film de gangsters, cuyo título es "La banda de los tres crisantemos".

GRATOS RECUERDOS DE CHILE

Antes que el popular actor-cantante regresara a Roma, tuvimos la oportunidad de charlar con él en Barcelona, en los Estudios de IFI en España. Dean Reed se alegro mucho al saber que nosotros éramos de Chile.

Quiero mucho a tu pais... nunca podré olvidar cómo se han portado conmigo. Han sido estupendos amigos.

¿Qué pasó concretamente en Buenos Aires?

Pues... que no me dejaron entrar alegando una serie de cosas absurdas, trámites, etc. Subterfugios, como se dice en español .

¿Motivos politicos?

Puede ser; pero eso es absurdo puesto que yo iba a actuar como artista. No ha pasado por mi mente inmiscuirme en asuntos de la política interna de un país.

EL CINE LO HA CONQUISTADO

Pasando a otra cosa, Dean... Vemos que el cine te está atrapando, ¿y la canción?

No pienso dejarla; siempre grabo y actúo en la TV. Sin embargo, debo reconocer que el cine me esta conquistando cada día más. Los productores me ofrecen buenos contratos y los realizadores están muy contentos conmigo. Parece se que como actor estoy resultando mejor que como cantante...

Dean ríe alegremente. Está muy contento y animoso. El director de "Veinte pasos para la muerte" dice que este "western" será todo un éxito.

CONVERTIDO EN UN "DURO"

¿Qué proyectos tienes para el futuro?

Debo hacer unos programas de TV en Roma. También me han ofrecido el papel principal de una pelicula "Hippie" cuyo título es "I want to live" pero no estoy muy decidido aún porque el papel no me va muy bien; prefiero los films de acción como éste que acabamos de rodar y de gangsters, como "La banda de los tres crisantemos".

De modo que te transformarás en un "duro" del cine.

Sí, eso es más o menos.

Pués te deseamos mucha suerte y que no te rompas una pierna en esas escenas tan violentas que haces y donde no aceptas doblaje.

Ya me voy acostumbrando a los golpes y caídas. Oye, ¿me puedes hacer un favor?

DEAN REED - HE IS THE TOUGH GUY IN THE MOVIES

Dean Reed the popular North American Singer, well loved by the Chilean public, has finished in Barcelona the shooting of his last movie "Twenty steps to death" with Patty Shepard a North American star, married to an Spaniard actor and settled in Spain.

This is movie number 10 for the blonde and rebel Dean Reed, who actually lives in Rome.

"Twenty steps to death" is a co-production Spanish-Italian directed by Manuel Estevá. It's about a "western" with lots of action, which the underlying problem is the racial one, responding to an actual circumstance in USA. Dean Reed plays the role of a mixed race man, who fells in love with a white girl, and fights against racial prejudices and an outlaw gang.

Other movie made recently by the actor-singer Dean Reed directed by the same producer Manuel Estevá, will be shown on the Italian and Spanish screens. It's a gangsters film whose title is "The three flowers' gang".

PLEASANT MEMORIES FROM CHILE

Before the popular actor-singer went back to Roma, we had the opportunity to talk with him in Barcelona in the IFI Studios, Spain. Dean Reed was very pleased to find out we were from Chile.

I love your country so much... I will never forget how you have been with me. You have been wonderful friends.

What really happened in Buenos Aires?

Well... they didn't allow me to enter complaining about absurd things, formalities and subterfuges, as you said in Spanish.

Political reasons?

It could be; but it's absurd because I was only going to perform as an artist. It didn't even go through my mind to interfere in one country's politic.

THE CINEMA HAS CONQUERED HIM

Changing the subject, Dean... we can see that the cinema is catching you, but what about the singing?

I don't think in leaving it; I am always recording and acting on TV. Nevertheless, I have to recognize that cinema is conquering me more and more everyday. The producers are offering me good contracts, and they are very pleased with me. It seems that I am doing better as an actor than a singer...

Dean laughs happily. He is very happy and full of vitality. The director of "Twenty steps to death" says this "western" will be a success.

BEING THE "TOUGH GUY"

What are your projects in the near future?

I have to make some shows for TV in Roma. Also, I have been offered the main role in a "Hippie" movie whose title is "I want to live", but I haven't decided it yet because the script doesn't fit me very well. I rather action films like this one we just finish shooting, and the gangster ones as "The three flowers' gang".

So, you'll become the "tough guy" in the movies.

Yes, more or less.

Well, we wish you good luck and don't break a leg when you are filming those violent scenes not accepting doubles.

Dean Reed, der bekannte US-amerikanische Sänger, der vom chilenischen Publikum so geliebt wird, hat in Barcelona die Dreharbeiten zu seinem letzten Film beendet "Veinte pasos para la muerte" und dabei mit der US-amerikanischen Schauspielerin Patty Shepard zusammengearbeitet, die mit einem spanischen Schauspieler verheiratet ist und in Spanien lebt.

Dies ist der zehnte Film des blonden Rebellen Dean Reed, der gegenwärtig in Rom wohnt.

"Veinte pasos para la muerte" ist eine spanisch-italienische Koproduktion, bei der Manuel Estevá Regie führte. Es handelt sich um einen Western mit viel Aktion, der die Rassenproblematik zum Hintergrundthema hat. Deshalb ist der Film gerade in den USA so aktuell. Dean Reed verkörpert die Rolle eines jungen Mestizen, der in ein weißes Mädchen verliebt ist und gegen rassistische Vorurteile und eine Bande von Bösewichtern kämpft.

Bald wird auf den Kinoleinwänden in Italien und Spanien ein weiterer Film gezeigt, den der Schauspieler und Sänger Dean Reed kürzlich unter dem gleichen Regisseur, Manuel Estevá, gedreht hat. Es ist ein Gangsterfilm mit dem Titel "Die Chrysanthemen-Bande".

ANGENEHME ERINNERUNGEN AN CHILE

Bevor der Schauspieler und Sänger nach Rom zurückkehrte, hatten wir Gelegenheit, mit ihm im Studio von IFI in Barcelona (Spanien) zu sprechen. Dean Reed freute sich sehr, als er erfuhr, dass wir aus Chile kommen.

Ich liebe dein Land sehr... Ich werde nie vergessen, wie gut man mich dort behandelt hat. Ich habe dort wunderbare Freunde gefunden.

Was genau ist in Buenos Aires passiert?

Nun, man hat mir unter einer Reihe absurder Vorwände die Einreise verweigert. Ausflüchte eben.

Gab es politische Motive?

Das kann sein, aber es ist absurd, denn ich wollte als Künstler auftreten. Es kommt mir nicht in den Sinn, mich in die innenpolitischen Angelegenheiten eines Landes einzumischen.

DAS KINO HAT IHN EROBERT

Sprechen wir von etwas anderem, Dean... Wir sehen, dass das Kino dich in seinen Bann gezogen hat, aber wie steht es mit dem Singen?

Ich habe nicht vor, damit aufzuhören. Ich trete ja auch weiter im Fernsehen auf und nehme Schallplatten auf. Dennoch muss ich zugeben, dass das Kino mich jeden Tag mehr fasziniert. Die Produzenten bieten mir gute Verträge an und die Regisseure sind sehr zufrieden mit mir. Es scheint so, als sei ich ein besserer Schauspieler als Sänger...

Dean lacht fröhlich. Er ist sehr lebhaft und freut sich. Der Regisseur von "Veinte pasos para la muerte" sagt, dass dieser Western ein Erfolg wird.

ER WIRD ZU EINEM FILMHELDEN

Welche Projekte hast du für die Zukunft?

Ich habe noch einige Fernseh-Verpflichtungen in Rom. Mir wurde die Hauptrolle in einem Hippie-Film mit dem Titel "I want to live" angeboten, aber ich habe mich noch nicht entschieden, denn mir liegt diese Rolle nicht so. Ich bevorzuge Actionfilme wie diesen, den wir gerade abgedreht haben, und Gangster-Filme wie "Die Chrysanthemen-Bande".

Dann wirst du also zu einem Filmhelden.

Ja, mehr oder weniger ist das wohl so.

Dann wünschen wir dir viel Glück und dass du dir nicht das Bein brichst bei diesen Gewaltszenen, in denen du kein Double akzeptierst.
