Dean Reed en Buenos Aires

DON DISCO RECIBE LA COLABORACION DEL CORRESPONSAL DE "ECRAN" EN BUENOS AIRES, MIGUEL SMIRNOFF.

Parece tan reciente el día de su partida, cuando las admiradoras de Dean Reed, lanzaron un suspiro de desaliento ante la perspectiva de no ver por mucho tiempo a su astro favorito: Dean regresaba a Estados Unidos. Pero el tiempo pasa volando y hace un par de semanas llegó la noticia alentadora: Dean Reed vuelve a Chile a actuar por otros quince días y a convivir con el público del que tan gratos recuerdos tiene. Dean debe llegar a Santiago a fines de noviembre. Mientras tanto, lo entrevistamos especialmente para "ECRAN" durante su estadia en Buenos Aires.

Dean Reed sigue igualmente simpatico, alegre y juvenil. En lo que ha cambiado ha sido para bien: conoce mejor el idioma castellano, ha tenido tiempo de concocer bien a la juventud latinoamericana (y en particular ahora último a la Argentina) y, además, se le han ofrecido magníficas oportunidades de convertirse en astro del Rio de la Plata, donde hasta hace poco no era muy conocido.

Le preguntamos que fue lo que mas le llamo la atencion de Buenos Aires y contesto:

"La bondad de la gente. En algunas ciudades europeas, como por ejemplo en Paris, si uno no conoce el idioma, está poco menos que abandonado a su suerte. En cambio, tanto en Santiago como en Buenos Aires, todos se esfuerzan por ayudarme, prestándome toda clase de colaboración y apoyo. De la ciudad misma, me llama la atención la cantidad de vendedores de flores, que dia y noche ofrecen su mercancía en las esquinas del centro de la ciudad. En los Estados Unidos nadie vende flores en esa forma. Tampoco hay la cantidad de plazas y parques como existen aquí, en la capital Argentina, y tampoco esas arboledas que bordean las avenidas. Allá hace tiempo que cortaron los arboles para ensanchar las avenidas."

Cómo compone usted sus canciones?

"Sólo compongo cuando estoy enamorado" - nos confiesa Dean. - "Cada una de mis canciones está dedicada a alguien. Espero componer mucho en Sudamerica" - sonrie.

Su ultimo tema es "Our Love Will Always Be" (Nuestro amor siempre existirá) y "Love is the Mightiest Force" (El amor es la fuerza mas poderosa), que pronto serán editados en Chile.

"Creo que 'Our Love...' será un nuevo éxito y de los mayores, porque es muy distinto a todo lo anterior" - senala Dean. - "Hablo en el disco, mientras los coros cantan. Otro disco que tal vez haya aparecido a en Chile es 'La Novia' que en el reverso trae 'Donna, Donna'".

Qué opina de la Nueva Ola de cantantes chilenos?

"Lamentablemente no conozco a muchos. Pero tuve la oportunidad de conocer a Peter Rock, a los Red Juniors y a los "Carr Twins", que me llamaron la atención por sus grabaciones de 'Once Again'. El que más me gusta es Peter Rock, con quien hice algunos shows. Su forma de actuar me pareció muy buena. También tengo interés en conocer a Danny Chilean. He oido bastante de él."

Supimos que Dean está preparando una "pequeña" sorpresa para sus amigos chilenos. No es tan pequeña, en realidad. Pero Dean nos pidió guardarle el secreto para que realmente sea una sorpresa. Ya se van a enterar...

Les transmitimos el cordial saludo del cantante, cuyo debut en Santiago para la Radio Mineria se anuncia para el 21 del corriente. Esa noche sonarán otra vez los aplausos de la juventud chilena cuando una voz y una guitarra vuelvan a cantar sus canciones favoritas.

"Estoy impaciente por llegar a Santiago" - nos dijo Dean. - "¡Tengo tantos amigos alli!"

DEAN REED IN BUENOS AIRES

He is coming... He is coming...

Mr. Disco receives the news from Miguel Sminorff, "ECRAN" correspondant in Buenos Aires.

It seems recent the day of his departure, when Dean Reed's fans reacted with desmay at the perspective of not seeing for a long time their favorite star: Dean was going back to United States. But time flies, and a couple of weeks ago, we got the good news. Dean Reed comes back to Chile to perform, and to live with the Chilean public, from whom he has very pleasant memories. Dean should be in Santiago tours the end of November. In the meantime we specially interviewed him for "ECRAN" during his stay in Buenos Aires.

Dean Reed continues being a nice man, happy and youthful. If he has changed, it has been for good; he has a better grasp of the Spanish language, and got to know better the Latin American Youth. (Particurlaly now in Argentina). Besides he has been getting great opportunities of becoming the star of Rio de la Plata, where he was practically unknown.

We asked him what did catch his attention the most in Buenos Aires, and he answered:

"People's kindeness. In some European cities, such in Paris, if someone doesn't know the language, is out of luck. On the other hand, in Santiago and in Buenos Aires, everybody is trying to help, collaborating and giving their support. From the city, what caught my attention was the amount of people selling flowers. They are day and night offering their merchandise. In every corner of downtown. In United States nobody sells flowers like they do here. We don't have either the amount of parks and squares as you have here in the city, or the trees beside the streets. Over there the trees were cut, in order to widen the streets."

How do you compose your songs?

"I only compose when I am in love," confesses Dean. "Every one of my songs is dedicated to someone. I hope to compose a lot in South America," he says smiling.

His last songs are "Our love will always be" and "Love is the mightiest force". Soon they will be edited in Chile.

"I think that 'Our love...' will be a new hit and a big one, because is different to the other ones. In the song I talk, while the choir is singing. Another single that probably is already in Chile, is 'La Novia' and 'Donna Donna'."

What do you think of the new generation of Chilean singers?

"Unfortunatelly I don't know many of them, but I did have the opportunity of meeting Peter Rock, the Red Juniors and the 'Carr Twins' whom I noticed because their recording of 'Once again'. The one I like the most is Peter Rock; we performed in some shows together. His performance was very good. I will like to know Danny Chilean as well. I have heard a lot of him."

We learnt that Dean is planning to give a "small" surprise to his Chilean friends. The truth is that is not that little, but Dean asked us to keep the secret, so it could be a surprise. You will know it in short period of time...

He sends his friends kind regards, and his debut in Santiago in Radio Mineria, is announced for Novermber 21st. That night, the Chilean youth will be applaudding again, when a voice and a guitar start singing their favorite songs.

"I can't wait to arrive to Santiago," Dean says - "I have many friends over there!"

Es scheint schon so lange her zu sein, dass die Bewunderer von Dean Reed am Tag seiner Abreise vor Traurigkeit seufzten, weil sie meinten, ihren Lieblingsstar nun lange nicht mehr zu sehen. Dean kehrte in die Vereinigten Staaten zurück. Aber die Zeit vergeht wie im Flug und vor einigen Wochen kam die erlösende Nachricht: Dean Reed kehrt nach Chile zurück und wird fünfzehn Tage lang auftreten und bei seinem Publikum sein, an das er so dankbare Erinnerungen hegt. Ende November soll Dean nach Santiago kommen. Wir haben während seines Aufenthalts in Buenos Aires ein Exklusivinterview mit ihm für "ECRAN" geführt.

Dean Reed ist sympathisch, freundlich und jungenhaft wie immer. Doch etwas hat sich zum Positiven verändert: Er spricht besser Spanisch. Er hat sich Zeit genommen, die lateinamerikanische Jugend besser kennen zu lernen (und in jüngster Zeit besonders die argentinische). Außerdem boten sich ihm wunderbare Möglichkeiten, sich zum Star des Rio de la Plata zu verwandeln, wo er bis vor kurzem noch nicht sehr bekannt war.

Wir fragten ihn, was für ihn das Bemerkenswerteste an Buenos Aires ist, und er antwortete:

"Die Freundlichkeit der Menschen. In einigen europäischen Städten, wie zum Beispiel in Paris, fühlt sich jemand, der die Sprache nicht beherrscht, vom Glück verlassen und allein. In Santiago oder Buenos Aires dagegen bemühen sich alle, mir zu helfen, und bieten mir ihre Unterstützung und Hilfe in jeder Hinsicht an. In der Stadt selbst fällt mir besonders die große Anzahl von Blumenverkäufern auf, die Tag und Nacht an allen Ecken im Stadtzentrum ihre Waren verkaufen. In den Vereinigten Staaten verkauft niemand Blumen in dieser Form. Es gibt auch nicht so viele Plätze und Parks wie hier in der Hauptstadt Argentiniens und auch nicht solche Alleen. Dort wurden schon vor Jahren die Bäume gefällt, um die Straßen zu verbreitern."

Wie komponieren Sie Ihre Lieder?

"Ich komponiere nur, wenn ich verliebt bin", gesteht uns Dean. "Jedes meiner Lieder ist jemandem gewidmet. Ich hoffe, dass ich in Südamerika viel komponieren werde", fügt er lächelnd hinzu.

Seine jüngsten Titel "Our Love Will Always Be" (Unsere Liebe wird immer bleiben) und "Love is the Mightiest Force" (Die Liebe ist die stärkste Kraft) werden bald in Chile herausgegeben.

"Ich glaube 'Our Love...' wird wieder ein Erfolg, und zwar einer der größten, denn es unterscheidet sich sehr von meinen vorangegangenen Liedern", unterstreicht Dean.

"Auf der Platte spreche ich, während die Chöre singen. Eine weitere Platte, die vielleicht schon in Chile erschienen ist, 'La Novia' hat auf der Rückseite den Titel 'Donna, Donna'".

Was sagen Sie zu der "Neuen Welle" der chilenischen Sänger?

"Leider kenne ich nicht viele von ihnen. Aber ich hatte Gelegenheit, Peter Rock, die "Red Juniors" und die "Carr Twins" kennen zu lernen, die mit ihren Aufnahmen von 'Once again' meine Aufmerksamkeit geweckt haben. Peter Rock gefällt mir am besten, ich habe einige Shows mit ihm gemacht. Sein Auftreten finde ich gut. Ich möchte auch gern Danny Chilean kennen lernen, weil ich schon viel von ihm gehört habe."

Wir erfuhren, dass Dean für seine chilenischen Freunde eine "kleine" Überraschung vorbereitet. In Wirklichkeit ist sie gar nicht so klein. Aber Dean hat uns gebeten, nichts zu verraten, damit es auch wirklich eine Überraschung wird. Sie werden es schon bald erfahren...

Wir übermitteln euch herzliche Grüße des Sängers, dessen erster Auftritt bei Radio Mineria für den 21. diesen Monats angekündigt ist. An diesem Abend wird wieder der Applaus der chilenischen Jugendlichen ertönen, wenn eine Stimme zur Gitarrenbegleitung ihre Lieblingslieder singt.

"Ich freue mich schon auf Santiago", sagte uns Dean. "Ich habe so viele Freunde dort."
