Мы скажем: да!

"В свою старую, знакомую москвичам программу", рассказал популярный американский певец Дин Рид нашему корреспонденту Екатерине Чаковской, "в этот свой приезд я включил две новых песни - 'Как будет?' композитора Фелициано и 'Мы скажем: да!', которую я написал по просьбе оргкомитета X фестиваля молодежи в Берлине.

Я часто пою песни протеста, но я пою и песни о любви и счастье. Мне кажется, эти песни нельзя разделить. Оборотная сторона песен протеста - это любовь: любовь к людям, к жене и детям, к стране, к человечеству.

Протестуя против войны и социальной несправедливости, мы боремся за братство и взаимное доверие. Об этом и поется в моей песне: 'Молодежь всего мира, всех цветов кожи, давайте все вместе запоем. Нас услышит весь мир, и тогда мы сильны. Агрессоры и империалисты призывают нас уничтожать друг друга, но против нашей воли они не заставят нас сделать это. Давайте возьмемся за руки и скажем миру: Да!'.

Сам я родился и жил в деревне, а потом переехал в город. Я был очень наивным парнем и все время думал: 'Как там будет со мной в городе?' Герой второй песни тоже прощается с родными местами. Перед ним дымный и шумный город: 'Как там?'"

We'll say yes!

"In my program that the Moscowers are already familiar with," the very popular American singer Dean Reed imparted to our correspondent Ekaterina Chakovskaya, "I decided to include two new songs during this visit of mine to Russia - 'Que sera?' by Felitsiano and 'We'll say - Yes!', which I composed at the instance of the Organizational Committee of The X. World Youth Festival in Berlin.

In my repertoire there are quite a lot of songs the aim of which is a protest against injustice in the world, but I am inclined to sing about love and happiness as well. I think those two kind of songs are impossible to separate from each other. The reverse side of the songs-protests is love too since they tell people about humanity, love to our nearest and dearest: wife, children, - as well as to the country we live in, to the mankind on the whole.

Making a protest against war and social injustice we are striving for friendship and mutual trust and confidence. My song is exactly about it - 'The youth of the world, of all colours, let's sing together. Everybody in the world will hear us and due to it we are going to be powerful (and our strength is in it). Aggressors and imperialists urge us to annihilate each other, yet they will not be able to succeed in it against our own will. Let's hold each others' hands and say to the world - Yes!'

I was born and spent my childhood in the village and only then moved to the town. I was extremely naïve and most of the time was thinking 'what is going to happen to me in the town once I move there?' The protagonist of my second song is bidding farewell to his native land. A smoky and busy town comes into the picture - 'So, what is there laying ahead for him?'"
